The Importance of OEM Approval

A common confusion arises between Lloyd’s Register (LR) approval and manufacturer (OEM) approval - understanding this distinction ensures your yacht remains compliant, safe, and under warranty.
Lloyd's Register (LR) Approval
As an LR-Approved Service Supplier, it means that a company has been audited and certified as competent to carry out surveys and inspections of masts and rigging systems in line with Lloyd Register's compliance standards.
This approval is limited to inspection and reporting, it does not cover, Servicing, Maintenance, Modifications or Repairs.
Manufacturer (OEM) Approval
OEM approval means a company is formally authorised by the original equipment manufacturer to perform work on their systems.
This includes:
-Access to original design data, specifications, and tooling
-Use of genuine replacement parts
-Authority to carry out repairs and upgrades that preserve warranty and compliance
